Dean of Sociology
Rocken University

Dr. Gimmerman
Rocken University is known throughout the academic community for ably combining the disciplines of research and teaching. I am putting myself forward for your department’s professor of Sociology opening as a scholar who has achieved a similar balance in my academic career.
Academic research is a passion of mine. From my earliest exposure to the field of Sociology, I have respected the hard work of adding to the body of knowledge through rigorously executed experiments and ground-breaking published work. As a graduate assistant and PhD candidate, I have translated this respect into action, designing experiments and producing papers published in the leading academic sociological journals.
At the same time, I love to teach. As a third year student at Ithaca college, a professor’s passion for Sociology inspired me to pursue advanced studies in the field, then eventually choose an academic career in the discipline. I feel it is an honor to pass on my love for the social sciences to my students in a similar manner, and was proud to be recognized by the student body with the Gene Landis award for outstanding teaching in 1995 and 1997.
Because of my strong research and teaching background, I am confident I would contribute immediately to the strong reputation that your department already enjoys. Please call me on my mobile phone at (555) 555-1235 and we will schedule an interview at your convenience.
Thank you for your consideration,
Ammy Smith
